Rear Springs and Shackles issue

What I did:

This ain't right!

Won't go back, despite encouragement!

How it looks now

update:  when all else fails, read the manual.
I found the info below on page 13-4 of the big blue book...

I tried the technique below, which clearly must be performed by highly skilled technicians.
This produced SOME results (for as long as I performed the ritual bounce), but the springs did not move all the way to the back, as they should.
WHY are my darn springs so "tightly sprung?

FINAL UPDATE: FIXED!

A car-guy buddy of mine came over and "lent his weight" to the situation.  We both climbed aboard the two door sills - and sure enough,
400+ pounds of "service men" was enough to force the shackles out into place!  With my friend riding one door sill, I tightened down
each shackle in turn.  They are now pretty much where they need to be.  Now when the car is bounced in the back,
the shackles rotate in and out a bit in response.   I assume this is proper operating procedure!

email me with ideas about this or post at the Honda group - thanks!
